Marty Miller visits TY Podcasting Module Students in MCS

Radio Nova presenter and former MCS student Marty Miller was an interview guest in the TY podcasting module recently. Marty provided the students with great insights into a career in broadcasting, alongside some fascinating stories about interviewing celebrities like Cillian Murphy in his day job. He was impressed by the range and depth of student questions and was eager to hear their podcasts created in class as well!

Thanks to Mr Cannon for facilitating this visit by Marty to the school.

2nd Year Girls Basketball Wins

Huge congratulations to our 2nd year ‘A’ Basketball team who won both their quarter final and semi final today in dramatic fashion.

The girls started the day off with a big win over Calasanctius which put them into the All Ireland Semi final vs Scoil Chríost Rí.

The game was neck and neck for the first half until Scoil Chríost Rí pulled away at the end of the third quarter to put them up 27-36. The team showed incredible resilience and won the final quarter 22-0 to win the game 49-36.

This puts the team into the All Ireland ‘A’ girls final.

Well done to all our players and their coaches Mr Ingle and Christian McDonnell.

Junior Girls reach Fingal Rugby Final

Congratulations to our Junior Girls’ Rugby Team who reached the Fingal Cup Final last week where they were narrowly defeated 30-25. The Girls won the overall group and their semi-final, scoring 30 tries in five games, showcasing outstanding attacking play and admirable team spirit throughout. Mia Steininger was named Player of the Tournament by the organisers, Leinster Rugby.

MCS nominated for AIMS Award

There was great excitement in MCS today when the TY students discovered that they had been nominated for an AIMS Mentor’s Special Award for the concept and execution of the multi-personed Audrey II plant in the recent production of Little Shop of Horrors. AIMS is the Association of Irish Musical Societies and a judge from AIMS visited the school on the final night of the show.

We are very proud of all our students and staff who created and starred in such an ambitious production. Well done to all involved!

What an amazing day at MCS hosting #SciFest@School 2025/2026 last Tuesday!

On April 21st, our 2nd Year students impressed everyone with their creativity, curiosity, and innovation in STEM. From brilliant experiments to clever designs, their projects truly showcased the power of imagination and learning in action. @scifest4stem

Well done to all the students who participated, and huge thanks to the Science teachers for their work in organising this event.

MCS organises “Laps for Inclusion”

On March 25th, our 1st, 2nd, 4th and 5th Years took part in Laps for Inclusion to raise funds for Special Olympics Ireland and to celebrate the spirit of inclusion around the school. Laps for Inclusion is a student-led run, inspired by the special Olympic Games opening ceremony Torch Run. We raised a massive €1220 euro via the school app and students had a blast!

Well done to all the students who participated and to Ms Paredes for organising the event.

Under 14 Camogie Success

Congratulations to our U14 Girls Camogie team who won their matches last Friday and on Wednesday, and who have now reached the Dublin Minor “B” Final. During the match on Wednesday they came from 8 points down at half time to win by 2. Outstanding 2nd half performance by all team members.

5th Year French Trip

On the 23rd April, Ms Banable and Ms Cuddihy’s 5th Year French students enjoyed a French Day Out. It started in the Irish Film Institute where they watched Souleymane’s Story – a movie about a man from Ghana who had just arrived in France and was seeking asylum. It was a very interesting movie with lots of twists and turns and everyone enjoyed it. The students and teachers then went for pancakes and macarons in Lemon and Laduree and everyone enjoyed their French treats! A fun day out was had by all.

MCS Girls Basketball Success!

Huge congratulations to the 1st and 2nd year ‘A’ girls Basketball teams who won their East Region finals yesterday.

Our 1st years beat Colaiste Brīde, and our 2nd years beat Dominican College in two great games.

Well done to all the players, their coaches Mr Ingle, and Christian McDonnell, and to all the supporters who came out to support the teams.
