We had a wonderful day at MCS last Thursday 5th March celebrating World Book Day with a range of fun reading activities. Students took part in a whole-school “Drop Everything And Read” activity, enjoyed quiet time in our Reading Room and tested their listening skills in the popular Masked Reader Competition by guessing which teacher was behind each disguised voice. Around the school, displays of quotes from famous authors sparked conversations about favourite books and writers.
We had a fantastic celebration of stories and imagination, reminding us all of the importance of reading and the lifelong enjoyment it brings.
Thanks to Ms Cronin and the English Department for co-ordinating all of these wonderful activities.

A special mention to Alex Mc Cann Wallace (2nd Year) who was our sole representative in the Leinster Final in Navan last week, having qualified at the North Leinster Championships last month.

The annual MCS Christmas Carol Service took place on Monday 15th December. This event has grown to be a highlight of our school year, drawing an incredible crowd and creating a memorable evening for our entire local community. It was a real joy to see the students performing with such confidence, pride and enthusiasm, and this would not have been possible without the dedication and guidance of the teachers who led rehearsals, practices, and preparations. Students from 1st year to 6th year participated in the event.
Sincere thanks to all the teachers and SNAs who were involved in making the night so memorable and such a success. Special thanks to Ms Dunne, Ms Keogh, Ms McNamara, Mr Davidson, Ms Cummings, Mr Mangan and of course the wonderful Ger Doyle and all who contributed or supported the evening. Congratulations on a superb event.

Malahide Community School Senior Rugby Team played in their first ever Leinster Cup final against a very talented Bush PPS side in Energia Park on Thursday 11th September.

Bush took an early lead before Jack Murphy scored under the posts, with Riain Cox converting to make it 7-5 to MCS. Two quick fire Bush scores saw them leading 17-7, before Eóin Eason barrelled over the line and Matthew Whitton converting just before half time to make it 17-14 going into the break.

With worsening conditions, both sides fought hard, with Conor McCarthy spotting a gap and scoring what turned out to be the winning try with Riain converting again.

Bush were camped out in the MCS 22 meter-line for the last 10 minutes, attacking relentlessly but being met with a sea of blue. Despite their spirited efforts, MCS kept them at bay with some brave and fearless tackling, eventually forcing a knock on that ended the game in what was the most tense finish possible.

This is only the schools second appearance in the Leinster Anne McInerney Cup, having competed in the Development Shield for over a decade making the achievement even more incredible.

Commiserations to Bush PPS who fought an amazing battle, and were extremely humble and classy in defeat.

MCS TEAM: Ivan Boffo, Eóin Eason, Ryan Canny (Captain), Ben Tilley, Larry Foley, Hugh Rush, Sean Vellere, Matthew Whitton, Conor McCarthy, Riain Cox, Jude Redmond, Alex Bulmer, Jack Murphy, Finn Kelly, Hugo Lynch, Charlie Kirke, Stan O’Rourke, Corey Wilson, Ryan Heffernan, James McCallion, Liam McGrath, Alex Cooney, Finn Kilduff.

Tries: Jack Murphy, Eóin Eason, Conor McCarthy
Conversions: Riain Cox (2), Matthew Whitton
