Dear Parents/Guardians,
We hope this notification finds you well.
Malahide Community School wishes to inform you that a directive has been issued by the ASTI with regards to teachers commencing a Work to Rule on Monday, 5th October, 2026.
Teachers have been directed not to attend formal Parent/Teacher meetings which take place outside of school hours.
Alternative arrangements will be made for upcoming Parent/Teacher meetings and information will be shared with you shortly.
Teachers have been directed not to take phone calls or to make calls to Parents/Guardians or to other outside agencies for the duration of the industrial action.
Teachers have also been directed not to monitor or respond to emails or to any other form of electrical communication from Management/Parents/Guardians/outside agencies.
Please note: Parents/Guardians are asked to continue to use the MCS Unique App to input notes regarding student’s attendance and punctuality as follows:
Absence Form for a full day’s absence.
Late Form for the late arrival of students.
Permission to Leave Form for students who need to leave early for appointments or family reasons.
Parents/Guardians are asked not to use the Message function on the App, as this can not be monitored under the directive.
Communications between Parents/Guardians and Teachers may take place via the School Journal or by phoning the Main Office, who will communicate the message to the relevant Teacher.
Please also note that the ASTI and Fórsa have instructed members to engage in a one day Strike on Wednesday, 14th October.
Consequently, the school will be closed on that date, unless the instruction is withdrawn.
