January 31, 2022
Dear Parent(s) / Guardian(s) and Students,
We hope that you and your Loved Ones are all keeping safe and well at this time.
Please read this very important message from our Guidance Dept.:
NB REMINDER ABOUT CAO DEADLINES and PLCs, etc.:
“The Guidance Counsellors would like to remind you all about the upcoming CAO deadlines. We have also reminded our 6th year students. of these deadlines, also.
**NB CAO CLOSING DEADLINES:
The closing date for applications is tomorrow, the 1st February. Students need to ensure that they make their CAO application BEFORE 17:15 on Tuesday, 1st February., 2022.
Students must indicate on their CAO account if they intend to apply for HEAR / DARE / SUSI grant / Trinity Feasibility scheme, BEFORE 17:15 on Tuesday, 1st February, 2022.
Students must include any Restricted course that they are interested in applying for BEFORE 17:15 on the 1st February. These are courses that may require an audition, portfolio, aptitude test, interview etc. It is important to note that a student cannot apply for a restricted course after the 1st February.
**NB: HEAR/DARE DEADLINES::
**1st March (17:15) : Closing date for final completion of online HEAR/DARE forms (Section A: completed online by the student)
**15th March (17:15): Latest date for HEAR/DARE supporting documentation to arrive for CAO (Sections B&C)
It is the student’s responsibility to ensure that all documentation (Sections B+C) are sent in to the CAO before 15th March.
**NB PLC’s:
We have encouraged students to consider applying for a PLC, as a potential course for next year or as a backup route for entry into third level. Most of the PLC’s are now open for applications. A lot of the PLC’s are offering students a place on their chosen course, once an application has been made, without completing an interview. This makes it very easy for a student to apply and have as a backup for next year.
**Please be aware that you cannot apply for a PLC course on your CAO. You must apply separately to each PLC college. And a student can apply for as many PLC courses as they wish.
We have encouraged the 6th year students to contact their allocated Guidance Counsellor if they require any further assistance or support in finalising their CAO application. We are available to help in any way.
Please do not hesitate to contact the Guidance Counsellors if you have any questions. Please email us at: guidance@malahidecs.ie.
Kind regards,
Mr Menezes. Ms Nic Domhnaill. Ms Walsh.
